Quality Manager

Our client is a leading Australian organisation specialising in the design, manufacture, and sustainment of advanced defence systems. They work closely with Defence to deliver sovereign capability and products critical to national security.

This is a key leadership role combining Quality team supervision and quality systems management to ensure the highest standards of quality, compliance, and continual improvement across manufacturing and operational processes.

You will lead and mentor the Quality team while managing the internal audit program and quality management system to support business objectives and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Quality Assurance team, ensuring effective workflow and timely delivery of quality outputs.
  • Coordinate and oversee the internal audit program, including audit scheduling, execution, and reporting.
  • Provide mentoring and on the job training for the Quality Team
  • Develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance processes, identifying areas for continual improvement.
  • Manage non-conformance reporting and corrective actions to resolve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including procedures, reports, records, and control documents.
  • Monitor performance metrics and trends to guide quality strategy and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Ensure management system functionality and awareness across the organisation to meet evolving business needs.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ leadership experience in a certified quality management system environment, preferably within the engineering or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, internal auditing, and continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Proficiency with quality management software and statistical analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive change with a positive and consultative approach.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or quality management qualifications are advantageous

Eligibility

  • Australian Citizen
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain AGSVA Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) clearance
  • Compliance with U.S. ITAR regulations where applicable, requiring disclosure of nationality and citizenship details
